Sometimes You Need to Reset…
Trying to Get it Finally Right
If you’re at all like me, each day brings resolve to finally get on the right path. You pedal hard throughout the day, but some days it seems like you’re pedalling a bike without handlebars. You’re putting in the effort, but the destination seems fuzzy. You resolve to start out the day right, keep moving forward each minute and really live the cliche, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.” and then, at day’s end, you sit down, grab a libation, and wonder, “What happened?” Sound like a pattern you’re familiar with?I lived this all too long. Then I decided to take a breath, take stock in where I was and where I wanted to be, and made a plan to get there. It wasn’t that difficult, and it’s created focus like never before.
Take Time to Reset
You can’t listen to everyone. There are a thousand different paths to success and also a thousand paths to failure out there. That, I’ve learned so well. How to choose? Following a path that leads to the wrong ultimate destination is certain to lead to disappointment. So every once in a while, I need to reset, reevaluate and discern if I’m really on the right path. When I used to train for Covey, I used the story of the woodsman that was cutting trees with a dull saw, but couldn’t stop to sharpen it because he had too much work to do. Sound like you?
