The GROW Model
This is one of the gold standards for coaching. GROW is an acronym for G-oals, R-eality, O-ptions, and W-ill and it adapts to a self-coaching model extremely well. Sir John Whitmore, one of the coaching greats developed this model about 40 years ago. His famous statement is one for the ages, “We must see people in terms of their future potential, not their past performance.” If you turn this inward, you suddenly get the statement that you must see yourself in terms of your future potential, not your past performance. Knowing it is good, your using it is great.
