Our Five-Day Journey to a Better You

I began introducing a great change tool, Positive Psychology, yesterday. This is one of the most essential tools for those who want a real positive change. We have at our disposal real scientific work on how to flourish in life. Those who pursue this avenue open up life possibilities that are endless and unexpected. An article authored at Johns Hopkins revealed that in the population of people with a history of heart disease in their family, one-third are less likely to have a cardiovascular event than those who don’t have a positive life approach. Numerous studies replicate these results in so many areas of our lives. That’s why PERMA begins there.

But where does it go next? The answer is engagement. It is described as being one with the music. More explicitly, it is an activity where you enter flow. Flow is the loss of self-consciousness, complete absorption in an activity where time disappears. It most often occurs when your strengths are challenged at the perfect level. It is also usually entered when you use your top character strengths (If you haven’t taken the free VIA Character Character Strength survey, you should).

So, how do I increase engagement?

  • Engage in challenging tasks you love, things that make you lose track of time. If binge-watching is your go-to, ask yourself if it is difficult or just mind-numbing.
  • Live in the moment. Make it your goal to not waste another second living in the past or future. We learn lessons from the past, and we plan for our future. But we live, really…

I began Over the Wall Coaching, not asking if I’d be successful, but rather how many people could I help achieve their dreams.
