A Task or A Blessing?

For years my beautiful bride and I wrote a nightly piece connecting an event that happened to us and our faith. It wasn’t always easy wrestling out the words together. I write like I speak and she writes so others can understand the concept. Together we spent time every night for three years churning these out. Some easy, some hard.

Choosing the Story

In the beginning, we found it a bit challenging to find something that was worthy of writing about. Then we stumbled on a lesson as we began to get feedback. The stories, or observations, didn’t have to be grand, they just needed to resonate with real life. We found that people could relate to what we may have thought was mundane because life just isn’t always fascinating and exciting.

Life Slowed Down

As we looked for nuggets, we paid more attention to what was happening around us. We were less self-absorbed and more open to what was happening to others. It was truly eye-opening and wonderful in so many ways. The Wayne Dyer statement that “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” was true. We looked at life through other’s eyes and our world changed.

What We’ve Been Missing

Since we stopped, we’ve missed the talks together about how life and scripture are so joined. We stopped looking for examples…
